Sentinelles Petitcodiac Riverkeeper (SPR) is offering FREE guided tours along the Petitcodiac River this summer. Participants will learn about the river’s history and ecological importance while walking directly next to the beautiful chocolate river.
We’ve carefully designed these tours to show visitors every important aspect of the river, from its rich Acadian and Mi’kmaq culture to the phenomenal natural values. Our guides will lead you along the Petitcodiac River and explain how the river has gone from one of the most endangered rivers in Canada to one of the most successful stories of restoration.
We also provide participants with the tools to be actively involved in creating a healthy ecosystem in their neighbourhoods. Participants might receive native plant seeds to plant in their yard and instructions on how to continue caring for their natural environment. Our free guided tours are approximately an hour to an hour and a half in length.
Participants should be prepared to walk a few kilometres in the sun, so don’t forget to wear some comfortable shoes and be sure to bring:
- a hat,
- sunglasses,
- sunscreen,
- bug spray,
- a reusable water bottle
- or anything else you may need!
