On February 18, 1999, Petitcodiac Riverkeeper was launched in the Village of Petitcodiac, at the headwaters of the river system. Since then, the organization has played a pivotal role in the protection and restoration of the Petitcodiac, Memramcook River and Shepody Bay watersheds.
